In a significant development in the legal proceedings against Sean “Diddy” Combs, recent court documents reveal that CNN destroyed the only known copy of a 2016 surveillance video allegedly showing Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a Los Angeles hotel hallway. 
According to a joint letter filed by Combs’ defense team and prosecutors, CNN purchased the hotel’s surveillance footage, uploaded it into editing software, altered the video by covering the timestamp and changing the sequence of events, and then destroyed the original footage, despite being aware of an ongoing federal investigation. 
The defense argues that these alterations render the video inadmissible as evidence, as it no longer accurately depicts the events in question.
This incident adds complexity to the case against Combs, who faces several charges. The destruction of the original footage could significantly impact the prosecution’s ability to present evidence of past alleged violent behavior.
